We are sad to announce the passing of another of the first generation cousins, George Pana, son of Florea (Tonita) and Vasile Pana.  George's sudden passing was  due to a ranch accident on his and Joyce's ranch near Fort Macleod, Alberta, on September 21, 2005.

Geraldine Barrett's Spa Business Celebrates "25" Years!

Geraldine Barrett is celebrating 27 years as a massage therapist. She loves sport massage and has volunteered at many sport events across the country. She now owns and operates Mon-Gee Sunrise Wellness Spa in a renovated police barracks in Unity where she has lived for the past 34 years. For information go to:

Geraldine treats from babies to seniors and many extreme cases. She loves a challenge and has successfully helped many people over the years. She is celebrating her 25th anniversary on Saturday, August 6 during Unity’s centennial celebration, the “Unity Ethnic Festival”.

Born November 21, 1913 in Saskatchewan. Survived by her loving companion of 27 years, Hans (Bubbi) Koehnke. Predeceased by her loving husband Ted Vidican (1976). Devoted and compassionate mother of Priscilla and Bill Parsons, Dennis and Kim Kostescu and step-mother to Donald Vidican. Predeceased by her loving children, Peter Kostescu (1945) and Loretta Lebel (1969). Helen will be sadly missed by her devoted grandchildren, Lois, Wayne and Anna, Pam, Vince and Lynn, Dennis Jr. and Delilah, Sherri and Alex, Jason, Victoria, Kathleen, Lindsay, Teddy, Cindy, Matthew and Sherry. Helen was a doting great- grandma to Christina, Derek and Kelly, Jerry, Katie, Jessica, Christopher, Jake, Serena, Christian, Harlie and Wesley and great great-grandma to Drew, Taylor and Sammy. Helen was a devoted sister to Mary, Annie, Virginia, Sophie and Marie and predeceased by her sisters Connie and Fannie and her only brother John. Helen was a loving aunt to so many nieces and nephews all of whom loved her tremendously. She was an extremely generous and giving woman who touched the lives of so many close friends, neighbours and acquaintances. Helen was an avid quilter who presented each of her family and many friends with a quilt keepsake. Her love for her family was deep and unconditional. Helen loved to cook and spent many years catering throughout the city as well as working for Dominion Stores Ltd. She was a member of the Seniors Group who meets at St. George’s Romanian Orthodox Church. If you so desire, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Visiting Friday 3-5 and 7-9p.m. Funeral Saturday 10a.m. at Families First Funeral Home (969-5841) 2670 Dougall Ave. Interment Windsor Memorial Gardens.

Paul Tonita has moved to Lille, France and is currently studying at the Université Catholique de Lille. He is on an extended study term through the University of Alberta where he is completing a Business degree with a major in international studies.
